SERINA LEE SS 27 A-T-H-O-M-E is a visual meditation on the journey of homecoming. Inspired by the narrative of a poet wandering back after an intoxicated night, the work translates fleeting sensory memories into sartorial form while actively preserving centuries-old crafts, such as traditional Chinese painting. The movement of a lotus top and a painted dress, combined with the sound of the wind against a wooden vest, anchors the narrative of a quiet journey home. Captured through fluid body movement, the imagery reflects an intimate dialogue between the wearer and the emotional landscape of being ‘at’ home. My pieces are hand-painted using traditional methods of Chinese painting and Southeast Asian batik painting, reflecting my roots as a Singaporean with a background in Chinese painting since the age of seven.
